Students tell Pittsburgh City Council: Fight gentrification, buy a house

Some local students missed class Tuesday, but they weren’t playing hooky. Instead they were in Pittsburgh City Council chambers presenting a plan to fight gentrification in neighborhoods.

The 25-member Youth Participatory Budget Council proposed that $125,000 of the city’s 2020 capital budget be put into a community land trust to keep at least one home in the city at an affordable price.
